Extremist Fatwas Rooted in Misunderstanding Quran: Egypt’s Mufti
TEHRAN (IQNA) – The grand Mufti of Egypt said many of the extremist Fatwas that distort the image of Islam are issued due to misunderstanding.
Shawki Allam deplored the fact that such Fatwas have led to killings and destruction.
He said in a certain period of time in Egypt, lack of correct understanding of the Holy Book and wrong interpretations led to deviation from moderation in the country, Dostor.org website reported.
He also said that terrorist groups have not correctly understood the true meaning of Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) Hadiths.
Allam regretted that such interpretations have led to the distortion of Islam’s image in the world.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Egyptian Mufti stressed promotion of Quran memorization and highlighted its benefits.
